“Let Me Know Below How I Can Best Serve You”

Telecounseling New Mexico

Using Telecounseling To Serve Every City And Rural Area Of The State

“Knowing That Your Therapist hears and understands you is a great feeling”

Couples therapy is designed to help couples fix or improve their relationship—whether they be married, engaged, living together or simply dating.

Whether they have more serious issues that need to be confronted or simple areas of the relationship they hope to work on, Couple’s therapy helps ease these situations and improve the overall relationship.

This form of therapy is led by a therapist with specific knowledge and experience working with couples.   In the case of TeleCounseling New Mexico, I specialize and only work in the area of relationships.  I do not spread myself thin by working with other various clientele.

If you are looking for couples’s counseling, I provide help as a specialist trained specifically in Marital/Couple’s therapy–I am not a generalist.  This means my concentration and expertise focuses on your specific relationship situation.

How Does It Work?

Every year, thousands of couples begin seeing a counselor with hopes that the therapeutic process will help to improve and strengthen their relationships.

While a couples counselor’s approach to therapy may vary, couples counseling typically revolves around the following three elements:

1- A focus on specific issues, such as jealousy, codependency, or financial distress.

2- Change-oriented interventions, which will guide the two partners to  better relationship satisfaction.

3- A clear outline of treatment objectives to track your progress and paint a clear picture of where you both are as a couple.

But is there any evidence that couples counseling works?

Actually, there is: according to a national survey of marriage and family counselors and their clients, a couple’s motivation for improvement may be the single most important factor in determining counseling success.

In a research study published by the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, it was found that client satisfaction and relationship improvement is often high with individuals in couples counseling.

Is online counseling as effective as face to face?   Research has shown it to have benefits that are not present in person.

Privacy is heightened, trips to and from a physical office is eliminated, online face to face or phone counseling presents less stress in many cases, online is usually more efficient, and in times of Covid-19 as well as other communicable disease–there is more safety in the online format.

Although there are other pluses for online counseling, these are enough to see that the benefits are numerous.  If we discover that this is not the case for you during the assessment (first visit), other arrangements can be made.
